Dr. Abbasi practices general psychiatry, with a preference to treat ages 18 and above. While coming from an Eastern medical background, she completed her internship at University of Mississippi Medical center and her Psychiatry residency training at the University of Washington, Seattle, and Advanced Clinical Track--Idaho in Aug, 2011.

Dr. Abbasi‘s practice style varies according to patients needs as she has experience of working with diversity of patients, illnesses and settings. She treats the following biologically based mental illnesses: depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, attention deficit disorder and personality disorders. She also has experience treating patients with co-existing alcohol and poly-substance abuse.

Dr. Abbasi has a special interest in Psychogenicdisorders, Sleep disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for borderline personality disorder, women’s mental health issues, chronic pain, brief behavioral interventions and mindfulness based stress reduction techniques.

Patients can expect an open, holistic, and compassionate approach to treatment. Patients are encouraged to bring family members to appointments for illness teaching and to assist in the recovery process. While the primary focus is on medication management, psychotherapy is encouraged.
